Catch-Up Time!!

WOW. In looking back, it would appear that I haven't posted in awhile. 4th of July weekend to be exact. We've been pretty busy since then. We continue to leave our camper at the campground so we can "camphost" on the weekends. This really consists of cleaning the restrooms and showers, stocking the outhouses and answering lots of questions. It's actually alot of fun and we have met some really great people. I was feeling a little sorry for myself on the weekend following the 4th. Michael was back to work and I was handling the work myself and being pretty lonely. Camping neighbors to the rescue. I met the nicest couple camping right next door, and now for the life of me I can't remember their names. It's really embarassing. Anyway, they invited me to share their campfire two different evenings and I really enjoyed the company. They were from Omaha and before they left promised to come back and camp in September when we are camphosts again. They had the coolest dog, Remmy. Golden Retriever who didn't realize how big he was. His favorite place to sleep was on the dash of their motorhome. I wish I would have gotten his picture. Anyway, they left the campground on Tuesday, the same day that Michael left to go to Texas to see his dad again. Milo isn't doing very well and we expect him to pass away in the next month or so. Very sad.

I'm grieving for Michael, who's never lost an immediate family member before. I've lost my dad and my younger sister, so I know what he's going through. My problem is I'm feeling guilty for not grieving for Milo. He's very popular with everyone except me, it seems. I've always found him, well, differnt. I don't know how to talk to him and he makes me very uncomfortable. This is made worse by the fact that he seems to love me very much. I'm having a hard time dealing with the whole situation.

Anyway, on Thursday at work I got a call from Michael and he sounded really bad. I don't think I've ever seen my husband cry but I could hear it in his voice. He asked me to come down to be with him. Jen, Cindy and Tom were heading down on Friday, so I hitched a ride. I don't really like (actually I hate) long car rides, but going with the kids made the trip alot better. They are crazy and they kept me entertained the whole way. I love them Soooooooooooooooooo much and I don't think I tell them that often enough. Anyway, the weekend in Amarillo was difficult. Michael's sister Linda was there when we arrived, but we missed getting to meet his 1/2 sister Nancy. This is another post altogether. We all met with reps from a hospice, which is the next step. To make a long story short, he is dying and there isn't anything that can be done for him. I hope for his sake this goes quickly.

We spent Saturday night at Milo's house in San Jon NM. It is about 80 miles from Amarillo, so joy of all joys, we got back in the car for another drive. Actually, I drove and it went pretty fast. I find the countryside very pretty in a depressing, dusty, dirty sort of way. I COULD NOT LIVE THERE!!!!! Spent some time touring San Jon, which takes about 5 minutes and then headed to bed.

Left for Amarillo @ 6 the next morning and left Amarillo to come home @ 8:30. All day in a car, a Focus to be exact. Yeah!!!!

I have already taken next week off and we will leave to go back down on Tuesday the 28th. We are taking the camper down, so will split the drive up into 2 days. That will be alot better. Having the camper in Amarillo will allow me to have somewhere to go so I don't have to spend 24/7 at the hospice. I think Linda is coming back as well.

Well, I'd better get back to work.

See you soon!!!!!

Random Stuff

It's been an "interesting" couple of weeks for me. I had been looking forward to the 4th of July weekend for quite awhile. Michael's sister, her husband and daughter were coming to camp with us and our kids would be coming out to visit as well. We haven't all been together for along time. Then, Michael calls to say he's on his way to Texas. His dad has cancer and isn't doing very well.

He had a safe trip, thank god, and got to spend some time with his dad. I'm sure he'll be making the trip alot this summer.

Kent and Linda arrived at the campground on Friday evening. They had a site reserved and were staying in their tent. Wouldn't you know, it rained Friday night. Not just rained, it poured. The next morning several people left including those in the campground right across from our site. So what did we do, we moved their tent of course. How you ask? Well..............

Video will go here when I get it working right.

I never said we were normal!!!!

The weather was rather cold and damp on the 4th so we spent most of the day sitting under our awning visiting and eating.

And looking at some old pictures Michael brought back from his dad's house.

And playing games..............

And eating some more.....................

Sunday turned out to be a much nicer day and Kent, Linda, Amanda and Jen went Kayaking. I just went along to take pictures.

After an afternoon on the water everyone, even those who weren't on the water took naps, and then after supper we all loaded up and went for ice cream.

I had to go back to work on Monday, but the whole gang met up again at Doug and Cindy's new house. Doug made lasagna (yummy!!!!) and we visited some more. We never seem to run out of things to say.

It's always hard to say "good-bye" but hopefully it won't be too long before we see them again.

I love my family!!!!!

See you next time.

July 4th Weekend

I haven't posted in forever and I didn't want the World to think I'd disappeared. Probably nobody even noticed.
We had a pretty good Holiday weekend. On a downer note, Michael's dad isn't doing well and Michael spent most of the week at the hospital with him. He did make it back from Texas on Saturday and got to spend time with the gang.
Michael's sister Linda and her husband Kent and their daughter Amanda were back visiting from St Louis and camped with us. Had a great time. Jen, Cindy and their families came to visit on Saturday and Jen spent the night with us. She, Kent, Linda and Amanda went kayaking on Sunday. I'll post pictures later. All in all, had a good time.

I'll post more about the weekend tomorrow and include some pictures.

Have a great day!!!!!

Get Me Out of Here............

This has been the worst day. It didn't start out too bad, but it went down the tubes about 3 seconds after my boss arrived at work. I love her to death, but there are days that I just can't take it and today would definately be one.

I won't go into detail, but let's just say............If you don't like the way something is going, just do it your-own-darn-self. OK, so it's my job, but when I get socked with 4 "emergencies" at once something's gonna blow.

Anyway, I'm eating lunch now and I'm going to ignore everybody for an hour. They just don't exist.

And, I can't wait 'til tonight. I'm going to get a facial. Nej gave me a facial for Mother's Day and I called a couple of weeks to schedule it. Little did I know then that I would really need some relaxation at the end of this day. I can't wait!!!!!!!

The weekend is shaping up to be excellent too!!! I've never been a big fireworks fan (except for the large professional displays, of course) so being at the campground where they are banned is perfect for me. Michael's sister, husband and daughter are coming in from out of town to camp with us and probably do some biking and kayaking as well. Should be a good time.

Well, if I don't get another post done this weekend, everybody have a GREAT and SAFE 4th of July weekend.........

See you later...................
